Research Reconstitution Tool

TB-500 Reconstitution Calculator

How much bacteriostatic water to reconstitute TB-500 (10 mg vial)?

For a 10 mg TB-500 vial, the volume of bacteriostatic water you add sets the concentration: 1 ml gives 10 mg/ml; 1.5 ml gives 6.67 mg/ml; 2 ml gives 5 mg/ml; 2.5 ml gives 4 mg/ml; 3 ml gives 3.33 mg/ml. At the 2 ml reference volume the solution is 5 mg/ml (50 mcg per U-100 syringe unit). Research Use Only — these are solution concentrations, not amounts to administer.

TB-500 — 10 mg vial: bacteriostatic water vs. resulting concentration
Bacteriostatic water Concentration Mass per U-100 unit
1 ml 10 mg/ml 100 mcg
1.5 ml 6.67 mg/ml 67 mcg
2 ml 5 mg/ml 50 mcg
2.5 ml 4 mg/ml 40 mcg
3 ml 3.33 mg/ml 33 mcg

Each “mass per U-100 unit” figure is the amount one unit on a U-100 insulin syringe (1 unit = 0.01 ml) holds at that concentration — a property of the prepared solution, not an amount to administer.

How to reconstitute TB-500

TB-500 is a synthetic peptide fragment of thymosin beta-4, supplied as a 10 mg lyophilized powder. Reconstitute it by drawing bacteriostatic water into the vial down the wall and letting the powder dissolve; do not shake. The 10 mg mass divided by your water volume fixes the concentration.

At the 10 mg strength: 1 ml gives 10 mg/ml, 2 ml gives 5 mg/ml and 3 ml gives about 3.3 mg/ml. The calculator turns the volume you enter into the concentration and the mass carried at each U-100 syringe mark.

TB-500 reconstitution — frequently asked questions

How much bacteriostatic water to reconstitute a 10 mg TB-500 vial?

1 to 3 ml; the volume you add sets the concentration. 2 ml is the default and gives 5 mg/ml.

What concentration does a 10 mg TB-500 vial reach?

10 divided by the water millilitres: 10 mg/ml at 1 ml, 5 mg/ml at 2 ml, 3.3 mg/ml at 3 ml.

What solvent is used to reconstitute TB-500?

Bacteriostatic water — sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. Add it down the vial wall so the powder wets gradually rather than being disturbed.

How is reconstituted TB-500 stored?

Refrigerate the solution at 2–8°C, protected from light; store the sealed lyophilized vial at −20°C until reconstituted.
