The Solira Take
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9 % benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. 3 ml vial - for laboratory reconstitution of lyophilized research peptides.
Description
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. It is the standard solvent for reconstituting lyophilized research peptides in the laboratory: the benzyl alcohol inhibits bacterial growth, so a reconstituted vial can be drawn from repeatedly over its usable window without the solvent itself becoming a contamination source.
The 3 ml vial is the everyday size for single-compound reconstitution. Most research peptides are supplied as 5–10 mg of lyophilized powder, and 1–3 ml of bacteriostatic water covers the common concentration range for a single vial — making a 3 ml vial a practical one-to-one match for one peptide at a time.
To reconstitute, add the bacteriostatic water slowly down the inside wall of the peptide vial and let the powder dissolve without shaking. Use our reconstitution calculators to work out the exact mg/ml for any water volume. Store the reconstituted solution refrigerated at 2–8 °C and protected from light.
